Just so you know...

Moving to Michigan

Well, all. I haven't written in forever. I know, I abandoned LJ for Facebook quite some time ago. Not really sure why as I feel I can be more "me" here.

Anyway, those of you on FB already know that Jerry and I are moving to Michigan-way, way far north Michigan. We were up there over the weekend looking for a house and I'm happy to say we found a great one! I'll admit I was terrified at the idea of moving so far away from my comfort zone; however, after going up there and seeing the town and meeting its people, I am delighted. Yes, it will suck moving away from my wonderful family and marvelous friends, but I'm looking forward to this new grand adventure.

I have something to say...

regarding books and thus, I have begun a book blog. You are cordially invited to peruse my first short review here at This Charming Reader.

Please comment on it if you are so inclined and we'll have a book discussion. :)

It's meme time!

Step 1: Put your MP3 player or whatever on random.
Step 2: Post the first line of lyrics for the first 40 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing the song.
Step 3: Post and let everyone you know guess what song and artist the lines come from.
Step 4: Strike out the songs when someone guesses correctly.

Here they areCollapse )

Whew. I'm exhausted. That took forever and a day or the entire first half of Chieko's football game.

Via wisteria_, I pass along this information:

FREE EC birth control AVAILABLE TODAY ONLY! That includes a list of where it's available to you.

Seriously, you really don't ever know when you might need this; so, if you can at all, go pick some up. IT'S FREE!

That is one skanky-lookin' coke whore*

Soooo, that was something. I can't sign into chat and discuss with my usual suspects, but I have to get this out there. BSG spoilers for tonight's epCollapse ) Oh my God. When will I have time for a re-watch?

*This statement has been brought to you by Dr. Phil and has nothing to do with BSG. Well, not since Ellen Tigh is no longer with us.

Oh, asta77, guess which one of your packages came in the post today? Well, I now have a fabbity fab new pink purse with green polka dots, beautiful pink earrings, a pink photo album, and a very fun magnet. Thank you so much, petal. You are too good to me. It's true. I've already changed over to the pink purse. I'm telling you, if everyone gives me a purse for this birthday, I will have no room left on the rack where I hang them. But I am really not complaining. ::loves pretty accessories::

Now for some fannish things: I have mentioned in various LJs over the past year or so that the thing I love best about Jason Dohring/Logan's face is his nose. Herein lies the why: Image heavy and contains spoilers for all of seasons 1 &2Collapse )

Thus endeth your picspam. I hope you enjoyed looking at it as much as I enjoyed perusing vm-caps for the perfect shots to use. Thank you, _jems_, for giving us obsessive types a place to find such things.

ETA: Okay, I'm over here at addicted2goo's house and on her monitor one of the pics is teeny-tiny. If it looks this way on yours, I'm sorry. On my monitor, it's perfectly sized. Who knows?
There's this book I've been eyeing since last fall. Everytime I read a little bit of it, it makes me tear up...in the best of ways. The book is My South and it's been culled together from a Turner South special in which people discuss what makes the South *their* South. I wrote something similar, but with less detail almost three years ago. I realize there are some people who think of the American South as a place filled with inbred rednecks and Christian fundamentalists, but y'all, we are so much more than red states and Billy Graham. We are front porch rockers and lemonade in the summertime. We are Bill Clinton and Al Gore. We are Elizabethtown and Fried Green Tomatoes. We are three out of the past four American Idols. We are grannies and aunties and family reunions in church basements. We are New Orleans and Memphis and Charleston and Music City U.S.A aka Nashville. We are Elvis and Ellen Degeneres. Our sultry summers invite you to slather on the sunscreen and laze around in the pool if you're an adult or put on your cutoff shorts and play in the creek if you're under twelve. Our roots are deep and our culture is rich. My heart is full to the brim and spilling over actually right now.

Buffy meme taken from just about every friend I haveCollapse )

Edited to take out all those quotation marks. They were seriously distracting.
